DVEO's Four Channel Satellite to IP Gateway to Debut at IBC 2008, Stand 3.A48

August 4, 2008

Source: DVEO

DVEO, the broadcast division of CMI, will introduce their unique DVB-S or S2 to IP gateway for IPTV at the International Broadcasting Convention (IBC) in Amsterdam, September 12-16.

Designed for broadcasting, IPTV, and "telco TV", OnRamp IP/Sat simultaneously receives transport streams from one or more satellite transponders, different satellites, cable channels, or terrestrial channels and outputs them to an IP network. Resulting streams can be viewed with standard IP capable set-top boxes or streaming video software clients such as VLC or MPlayer.

The Linux-based unit also has the optional capability to transcode streams into H.264 format up to a maximum combined bitrate of 6 Mbps. The system supports MPEG-2 and H.264 input and output in SD and HD format, and optionally transcoded H.264 output.

The unit provides PID filtering of all unwanted traffic, increasing system performance and the number of channels, which can be transmitted per unit. It features remote configuration management via a web browser and Secure Shell (SSH).

"The OnRamp IP/Sat is a very flexible system. It\'s suitable for IPTV, electronic news gathering, distance education, and more," said Laszlo Zoltan, Sales Manager for DVEO. "One of our customers is a small telephone service in the rural U.S. - they use the OnRamp IP/Sat to receive satellite feeds and re-transmit them to cable TV via the Internet."

DVEO's OnRamp IP/Sat is available as a two-rack unit with one to four DVB-S or S2 receivers. Transcoding from MPEG-2 to H.264 is available as an option on all units. Customers can purchase licenses for additional options and upgrade the unit immediately.
