AmberFin today announces the appointment
of Bruce Devlin as its new Chief Technology Officer (CTO).
In this role, Bruce will be responsible for leading strategy
and vision at AmberFin, helping its customers to deliver superior-quality
TV, film and video content across a rapidly changing file-based
media environment.
Prior to his new role, Bruce was VP of Technology at AmberFin,
guiding the company on video file, workflow and systems issues.
Previously Bruce was at Snell & Wilcox where his career
spanned 15 years with the company. Here he led its innovative
and award-winning work on compression coding.
With a long standing career in broadcast, Bruce has experience
at both the BBC and Thomson. He holds several patents in the
field of compression and files and has contributed to books
on media, MPEG and File Formats. Bruce was previously one
of the founding developers of the MXF File Format Specification,
which was awarded a technical Emmy in January 2009.
Bruce Devlin comments: "AmberFin has already seen great
success in the film and broadcast markets, with a number of
prestigious customers using AmberFin's iCR software tools
to solve their file-based digital workflow and media content
management issues. Consumer adoption and demand for HD content
is increasing dramatically. Our next challenge is to help
customers convert large amounts of archived video content,
held in multiple legacy formats to HD. With predictions that
HD-ready platforms will stand between 75% and 100% by 2012,
along with more and more video being consumed online, the
next few years are sure to be an exciting time for the industry.
I will be focused on ensuring that AmberFin's iCR software
continues to lead in this field."
Jeremy Deaner, CEO of AmberFin, says, "Bruce has invaluable
experience in the film and broadcast markets and carries an
in-depth technical knowledge and drive for innovation, which
will continue as we develop and evolve our iCR software in
line with market requirements. Bruce will work closely with
AmberFin's leading R&D and engineering teams, whose unrivalled
expertise has already enabled iCR to deliver superior quality
pictures with sharper images, contrast and color."
