WQXR Choose APT WorldCast Eclipse for Pristine Audio

A remote broadcast from
the prestigious Lucerne Festival in Switzerland by New Yorks
classical radio station, WQXR, was made possible by the WorldCast
Eclipse audio codec from APT. The WorldCast Eclipse delivered
24Bit stereo audio over an ISDN link and the audio quality
wowed all those who tuned in.
Chief Engineer with WQXR, Rodney Belizaire
said, This is the second year we have participated in
broadcasting works from the Lucerne Festival and, as always
at WQXR, premium audio was paramount. We chose the WorldCast
Eclipse units because we wanted to maintain the fidelity of
the concerts and apt-X was the only algorithm that would deliver
the audio quality we demand, efficiently. Classical music
has a lack of tolerance to less robust algorithms; in fact
some algorithms can make strings sound tinny, and we simply
wouldnt broadcast anything that isnt pristine
in quality.
Belizaire continued, Installation
of the units was very straightforward. When I took them out
of the box, it was plug and play with a few minor adjustments
at either end. The units are very intuitive. Another feature
that I liked was the reliability if one ISDN segment
drops, the units have automated renegotiation so I was confident
that we would never lose the audio. The festival lasted four
days and it was a pleasure to use the WorldCast Eclipse Units
during this time. Overall, the process was incredibly straightforward
and I cant say enough about the quality of the audio
it was amazing.
The WorldCast Eclipse is a multi-interface
audio codec which also offers IP and X.21/V.35 connections
in addition to a suite of other popular compression algorithms.
Many hundreds of units have already been deployed worldwide
for studio transmitter links, studio networking and remotes.
