Argosy Cable Asia, a
joint venture with Argosy, the leading UK-based international
supplier of HD broadcast cables and studio infrastructure
products, will showcase its latest range of products at Broadcast
Asia in Singapore (17-20 June 2008). The newest additions
to the company's portfolio include MDUs, a new audio jack
field and a high density high definition video patch panel,
a changeover switcher, an array of video accessories and Sonarea,
the new audio monitoring system. Argosy Cable Asia will also
display the leading range of IMAGE HD video cables that are
recognised worldwide for their high performance in broadcast,
transmission and production houses facilities.
Showcasing on the Argosy Cable Asia's stand no. 7N4-03 will
be: -
The new 14-way MDU makes full use of the 20Amp capability
of the Powercon inlet by configuring the outputs in two banks
of seven. The two neonilluminated front panel switches
are operated within their 16 amp rating as each is restricted
to 10Amps per bank. This technique allows the 14-way series
to deliver 20% more output than conventional single switched
units. This unit complements the existing popular Argosy 12-port
range which includes, sequential and Powercon units.
The new 32-way High Density HD Video Patch Panels provides
useful performance in excess of 3GHz making them particularly
suited to existing single wire standards of SMPTE 292M, the
dual link SMPTE 372M and the digital cinema standard of SMPTE
424M. While the high density offers 32 u-links pairs making
them ideal for the most demanding video patching application
the 1-RU units also maximise space utilisation.
The new 32-way Audio Jack Field is suitable for wiring to
audio routers. With 32 inputs and outputs the jacks allow
for high density patching with stand B Gauge plugs.
Supporting the transition to HD is the ISIS HD-212 2x2 SD/HD/ASI
Critical Path Changeover Switcher which auto-detects the SD,
HD, or ASI signal presence on both its 'A' and 'B' inputs,
and transfers to the offline input upon failure of the primary
feed. The unit, which is having its first showing at NAB,
is ideal for use in network, transmitter inputs, or satellite
and cable head end operations. It is fully compliant with
all SMPTE and ITU serial digital video signals up to and including
1.4835Gbps. The 1RU rack enclosure can house up to two processor
boards and two power supplies. The optional Ethernet core
processor used for networked monitoring and control is easily
loaded onto the main processor board.
Useful "gizmo" accessories including: Video Isolation
Transformer, SDI Splitters, HD-SDI Splitters, SDI Isolation
Transformers from leading UK specialist of passive signal
enhancement, LEN. All of these accessories are passive, requiring
no outside power source although the new HDSDI Relay
requires a 5VDC power source to activate the relay. Small
in size and economical, these units are very useful for studio
and OB applications. Argosy is the international distributor
for this new range of accessories.
Argosy will also display its most popular range of IMAGE HD
video cables. Surpassing the requirements of SMPTE 292M, the
IMAGE range is widely used in worldwide HD installations and
has one of the most enviable track records in the industry.
IMAGE cables are designed to maximise operational bandwidth
while offering the lowest possible return and attenuation
loss. With its highly-regarded international reputation among
engineers and systems designers alike, IMAGE combines superb
quality, reliability and durability with consistent high performance
that is perfect for all types of installations however large
or small.
Furthermore a new addition to its product line up is the recently
introduced Sonarae audio monitoring system. Sonarae is the
latest entry in Graham-Patten Systems line of digital audio
products for the professional video industry. This system
is specifically designed to meet the need of Non Linear Editing
(NLE) operators who critically monitor the audio associated
with a video edit session as a part of the NLE process.
"We are delighted to be represented with our partner
company, Argosy Cable Asia, at Broadcast Asia this year,"
said Mike Purnell, director at Argosy. "We have seen
substantial growth in this region and are committed to continue
to supply our much sought after infrastructure and cable products
to customers in Asia Pac as they continue the build out of
their HD facilities."
