Providing Cost-Efficient Solutions for Long Distance Transmission of SDI Signals

Argosy, a leading international supplier of HD broadcast, cables and studio infrastructure products, has added an SDI fibre video converter to its broad portfolio of products. This converter is well positioned to set a new standard by offering greater distances for the transmission of SDI signals - up to 20km depending on bit-rate being used - at one of the lowest price points
available on the market.

The converter works by receiving an HD-SDI electrical input and converting this into a single mode optical signal and supports the transmission of SD-SDI (143-540Mb/s) and HD-SDI (1.485Gb/s). Both transmitter and receiver
provide automatic equalization and input re-clocking to ensure signal integrity.

"This media converter heralds a new era in the price/performance offered by such an essential product and allows Argosy to support customers that want to easily and cost-efficiently extend the distances over which their signals can be transmitted," said Mike Purnell, director at Argosy. "The Argosy solution is one of the most cost-effective of its type on the market today."

The SDI fibre video converter complements Argosy's established portfolio of products which include its most popular range of IMAGE HD video cables, connectors, high density HD video patch panels, MDUs, routers, audio jack
fields, rack systems, KVM switches, and Sonarae, its audio monitoring system as well as an array of video accessories.
