Megahertz & Azcar Plan For The Future At IBC

July 19, 2007

Source: Azcar

UK-based Broadcast Systems Integrators Megahertz are once again exhibiting in Hall 11 at IBC this year, where they are joined for the 2007 show by key personnel from Canadian parent company AZCAR will be joining the Megahertz executive team in outlining the strategic plan for assisting our clients in migrating to the high definition digital environment. Joining Megahertz Technical Director Steve Burgess will be Company founder and CEO Stephen Pumple and recently appointed President Gavin Schutz.

"The IBC show will give us an opportunity to continue interacting with key players in the European broadcasting and international markets,” comments Schutz. "Both AZCAR and Megahertz are committed to an ongoing partnership with our clients and equipment manufacturers to provide sophisticated and productive solutions for the rapidly evolving broadcast markets. We are intent on using IBC as an opportunity to outline some of our plans to IBC visitors."

Schutz joined AZCAR as part of the executive management team in May this year. Previously he was Executive Vice President and CTO of Ascent Media Group. He brings extensive experience of broadcast engineering, project management, and strategic development to AZCAR, and, as IBC visitors will discover, he's building on that experience to go forward in a changing market. “As new means of broadcasting content become available, systems integration is also in a constant state of change,” he explains. “Over the course of the next few years, our industry will witness a shift not only from Standard Definition broadcasting to HD, but also a complete change in the infrastructure and workflows associated with content origination and finishing. Megahertz will continue to build on our reputation as one of the world’s premier manufacturers of mobile broadcast platforms by providing our clients with sophisticated migration pathways from tape-based infrastructures or discrete file based editing workstations to centralised, remote-accessible servers with fully integrated, software-controlled content management and security systems. Seamless integration with the mobile broadcasting platform will be essential for economic and timely acquisition and processing of content,” concludes Schutz.

"Systems integration is already beginning to involve designing, servicing, and training operators to use these systems: ensuring that our clients understand and are comfortable with the new means of working," adds Megahertz Technical Director Steve Burgess. "We see great commercial opportunities for growth in that part of our business, and we're making the changes necessary to ensure we keep pace with that. Part of that process is having the flexibility, through our AZCAR operations in North America and through Megahertz in Europe, the Middle East and Africa, to recognise these shifts as they are occurring in different parts of the broadcasting world, and to service them appropriately in each market. I'm looking forward to discussing these topics in more detail at the show, and getting a broader understanding from engineers, broadcasters and management from all around the world."

"Europe and North America are driving the migration to high-definition digital broadcast environments” says Stephen Pumple, CEO and Founder of AZCAR. “Through Megahertz, and utilising the resources of AZCAR, we are in a position to offer a complete range of broadcasting solutions to our clients. In addition to mobile environments, AZCAR and Megahertz will offer a complete range of content transport and delivery services, high-level strategic consulting services, customised engineering design and development, and facilities management services,” continues Pumple.  “Come and meet us at the show — we'd like to hear all about your views on these changes, and what your company's plans are for the next few crucial years."

Megahertz can be found on Stand 610 in Hall 11 throughout the exhibition.
