Barco display technology helps make church worship services come to life at NAB 2008

April 3, 2008

Source: Barco

Barco, a leading global provider of advanced display systems, will take video projection to new heights of realism at NAB's Technologies for Worship (TFWM) pavilion.

Visitors to Barco booth #C9745 will experience the latest innovations in projection display and image processing for video-only venues and get an inside look at what it takes to create state-of-the-art realism during worship productions. As a sponsor for the TFWM event, Barco will share the adjacent front stage area to deliver a two-tiered presentation.

On one level, using high-quality and high-fidelity imaging, Barco will present a contemporary multi-projector display application with center- and dual-side screens for realistic image magnification and life-like video. On another level, Barco will stretch the imagination by using its new NH-12 projection system with unique image warping capabilities, to display the worship production on a large curved screen. Two Barco NH-12s, delivering a total of 24,000 lumens, will be seamlessly blended to bring a color-matched, high-contrast double 1080p HD experience that immerses visitors in the worship video environment.

Barco will also showcase its advanced Encore and new ScreenPRO II video processing and presentation systems to demonstrate imaging control and stunning visual effects. These systems work hand in hand with the Barco projection systems to provide source selection, advanced windowing features, seamless switching, and video effects with minimal video latency for the worship production demonstrations. Barco will draw live feeds from the TFWM pavilion stage, process the signal using special backgrounds and visual effects, and then project this high-resolution content on the various display screens for an uplifting worship presentation.

Barco's resident HOW display systems expert, Peter Taylor, and president and A/V media specialist for Audio Ethics, Donny Haulk, will give daily demonstrations at 10:00 am and 3:00 pm. Barco is well know for its expertise in delivering "video realism" at the country's leading churches, such as North Point's satellite campuses in Georgia; Ingleside Baptist Church in Macon, Georgia; Fellowship Church, in Grapevine, Texas; Thomas Road Baptist Church in Lynchburg, Virginia; and NewSpring Church in Anderson, South Carolina, to name a few.

On Tuesday, April 15 at 11:00 am at the TFWM pavilion, Barco's Peter Taylor will partner with HOW A/V authority for ClarkPro Media, Matt Card, to deliver a 90-minute session on "Making it look real – from production to projection in video venues." This session will provide an inside look at projection technology and productions in video-only venues, share insightful technical tips on color balancing and brightness, and use the latest visual technology to show real-world examples.

Visit the TFWM pavilion for more details. Be sure to stop by Barco booth #3213 on the main exhibition floor to see the company's other visualization advances in security and monitoring, media and entertainment, and presentation display.
