Broadcast Electronics
(BE) will unveil a new studio automation platform at the 2008
NAB Show for today's multi-channel, multi-venue radio operation.
Double-donut segues, personalized studio
"mashups" and interactive talent collaboration are
just a few of the benefits of BE's new AudioVAULT platform,
which takes advantage of the latest open automation model
to bring expanded operability to the studio.
"Radio broadcasters are telling us
that they want to do more more programs, more localization,
more of radio in general. But, at the same time, they have
fewer studios and even fewer people in those studios. The
new AudioVAULT X platform is designed to fill that gap,"
said Ray Miklius, BE VP of Studio Systems.
AudioVAULT X is an entirely new studio platform
with more capacity and flexibility for adding and personalizing
format channels on the Internet or over the air. New capabilities
enable broadcasters to do more with less, while time-proven
AudioVAULT programs at the application layer offer broadcasters
consistent, reliable studio performance.
Double-donut segue editor for seamless voicetracking
and localizing multiple stations from a centralized studio.
AudioVAULT X handles complex segues, such as inserting "donut"
tracks in the middle of a song, station ID or weathercast.
It can even do double donuts that is, drop in a voice
or other segment in the middle of a song or jingle twice!
Plus, talent can manipulate fades, audio levels and other
characteristics of segues.
Personalized studio "mashups" combine studio tools
and applications from more than one source into a single workspace.
Announcers and producers can profile workspaces unique to
each show, workstyle or for operational continuity throughout
the studio environment.
AudioVAULT X lets users pick and choose task icons from a
large pallet of operating functions and define the number
of decks, types of navigational lists, pane sizes, layout
of functions and personalized "skins" of background
and color scheme preferences.
Sophisticated asset management. AudioVAULT X has a better,
faster search engine and more tools to categorize and manage
audio assets for personalizing and repurposing music libraries
for new channels on the air and on the Web.
Multi-thread engine for live, interactive workgroup collaboration.
The AudioVAULT X multi-thread engine enables talent in separate
studios to work collectively off the same log, in real-time.
While Talent One of the morning show in progress is logging
a fade-in in Studio One, Talent Two can be cueing up a voicetrack
in Studio Two. Meanwhile, the show producer can be logging
a new spot from traffic in yet another studio down the hall
or across the network all through the AudioVAULT X.
All three are able to interact and view each others' updates
in real-time over the network cloud through their AudioVAULT
screens. Moreover, the station manager can access a moment-by-moment
view of the show in progress through a network interface from
his or her office.
All application code is native to the AudioVAULT system, which
is proven over an installed base of thousands of AudioVAULT
users worldwide, yet is continually and progressively updated
to create new content, repurposing opportunities to go along
with solid, reliable performance.
This is especially important in an era when broadcasters are
exploring new opportunities on the Web and on new HD Radio
channels, yet are more competitive than ever on their main
broadcast channels.
BE's AudioVAULT X is a complete digital media system for live-assist
or satellite operation. The new platform offers on-air studio
operation as well as a full suite of scheduling and production
modules for multi-track editing, music rotation and ad insertion.
