Calrec Audio announced today that at IBC2008 in Amsterdam at stand 8.D70, the company will unveil a Flypack version of the Omega with Bluefin console.
Available on the Omega and Zeta consoles, the Flypack is designed for use in places to which a mobile truck cannot get or is prohibitively expensive to ship, providing high-end broadcast facilities in otherwise impenetrable locations.
The desks use military-spec connectors to ensure fast, reliable, and rugged connectivity, offering a highly adaptable solution to OB requirements without unnecessary expenditure.
"Calrec desks have always been popular for Flypacks -- we recently had eight desks ship to Beijing with NBC Olympics' Flypacks," says Calrec Sales and Marketing Director John Gluck. "Calrec consoles are extremely robust, compact, and reliable, with redundancy built in at all system critical points. All our desks have very high fader density, which allows us to squeeze more faders into a smaller space."
Calrec's standard Flypack enables all digital signal processing, power supplies, and I/O interfacing to be housed in a compact double rack, which allows the control surface to be mounted on top.
The Flypack is sold with or without a flight case so customers have the option to custom fit their cases with supplementary equipment, or take advantage of Calrec's robust package.
Also on show at IBC will be the Sigma with Bluefin console and Calrec's range of fixed-format I/O boxes. The Sigma has 320 channel-processing paths allowing up to 52 x 5.1 surround channels on just one Bluefin digital signal processing card.
