Christie,
a global leader in visual solutions for business, entertainment
and industry, is pleased to announce it has once again been
selected by AT&T as the display solution for the company's
Global Network Operations Center (GNOC) in Bedminster, New
Jersey.
AT&T's GNOC is the nerve center of the telecommunications
giant's global enterprise, and a state-of-the-art customer
showcase. Christie recently upgraded the existing system with
a record 141 Christie TotalVIEW(tm) rear projection modules.
Operating around the clock, the stunning 12-foot-high by 250-foot-wide
(3,000 square foot) seamless video wall displays over 207
million pixels and provides a comprehensive view of all network
traffic and activities around the world.
The Global Network Operations Center turned
to Christie again with confidence in the company's 25+ years
of expertise in 24/7 control room environments and long life,
reliable products. After seven years of operation, the previous
projection systems provided by Christie were still going strong
at an amazing run of over 61,000 hours of continuous operation
proving their reputation for performance, reliability
and superior quality.
Installed in the upgraded GNOC are 141 Christie
TotalVIEW RPMSP-D120U rear projection modules one of
the most powerful SXGA+ DLP(r) rear-projection displays available
today. Customized to meet AT&T's requirements, the Christie
RPMSP-D120U's offer exceptional color, uniform brightness,
high contrast, and the longest lamp life on the market. The
new projection system will be invaluable to ensuring continuous
quality service during peak usage and under the most adverse
conditions. The wallboards monitor patterns and predictability
of usage to ensure the highest level of security, service
and performance management.
Jim Gavloski, director of product management,
Control Room and Videowall Solutions for Christie, noted that
AT&T approached them with stringent, custom specifications
and a highly challenging timetable to complete the entire
installation and bring it to life. Christie's expert technicians
worked with AT&T to develop a custom solution to fit the
existing structure requirements as well as execute the installation
successfully in a short span of time.
"The AT&T GNOC represents cutting
edge technology in telecommunications and is an impressive
centerpiece for control room solutions. We are pleased that
AT&T chose Christie and our visual display solutions to
help support its critical global network," said Gavloski.
"AT&T continues to be the leading force in the telecommunications
industry, and we congratulate them for their commitment to
quality and 24/7 connectivity through their truly unique world-class
Global Network Operations Center."
The GNOC currently averages 10 petabytes
of data and IP traffic per day, or ten thousand trillion bytes
of data daily, an amount equal to a stack of CD-ROMs 12 miles
high. Overall, the network handles one to two million calls
every five minutes at peak usage, in addition to more than
400 million calls per day on traditional wire lines. AT&T's
immediate coordination of incident response and restoration
efforts sets the industry standard with a rating of 99.999%
network reliability.
In addition, the GNOC, partnered with the
Marketing organization, hosts all customer tours for AT&T.
The wallboard displays provide a visual environment for these
tours. Reliability, clarity and flexibility of the systems
supporting the wallboard displays are critical.
