Demonstrating the new EditShare 5.0; Project Sharing for Avid and Final Cut Pro Systems

EditShare™, the technology leader in cross platform collaborative editing and shared media storage systems, will be exhibiting their new EditShare version 5.0 release at the Broadcast India exhibition, held in Mumbai from November 1-3, on the Cineom stand P8. Version 5.0 offers a slew of enhancements and new features including Project Sharing for Apple Final Cut Pro users (FCP), simplified media management and support for iSCSI.

Symposium Presentation – “Life After SAN”

The presentation, part of the Broadcast India Symposium, will be held on October 31st at 3:40 pm at the Y. B. Chavan Centre near Mantralaya, Mumbai.

Enhancements in EditShare Version 5.0

EditShare version 5.0 delivers vastly improved workflows with simplified administration and expanded capabilities. The addition of Apple Final Cut Pro (FCP) Project Sharing capabilities is included in this version. Deployed first for Avid systems and editors, the widely popular EditShare Project Sharing technology provides tremendous
collaborative workflow benefits by enabling multiple editors to work on the same project simultaneously. EditShare is the only collaborative workflow and shared storage solution to offer project sharing for Apple FCP and Avid editing systems.

New administration features and functions in version 5.0 allow EditShare administrators to synchronize two or more servers regardless of geographic location, receive daily “health” reports detailing server activity, and minimize time to deploy with a new “plug and play” configuration.

•Full Project Sharing for both Avid and Final Cut Pro – allows multiple editors to simultaneously work within the same projects

•Improved Shared Avid Projects: See warnings that other user's bins are locked. Move nested folders and bins without having to worry about permissions. Work flawlessly under both OS X and Windows.

•Powerful Synchronization Tool: Duplicate media files across two or more servers -- whether they're located in the same building or on the other side of the world.

•Simplified Media Management: Variable levels of file protection. New “Read Only” option. New “Maintenance Mode” for deleting and modifying files.

•Limited Administration Rights: Grant specific controls on a per user and per Media Space basis. Authorized editors exercise their admin rights through EditShare Connect.

•“Plug and Play” Network Configuration: EditShare can now be configured to act just a like a “switch”. Plug in your workstations and connect to media or anything on the office network.

•Daily "Health Report": Administrators receive a daily email detailing everything you need to know about your server.

•Support for iSCSI : Users will enjoy the ease, simplicity and power of a file-level sharing NAS as well as benefit from the block-level SAN-type connectivity required for applications such as Digidesign’s Pro Tools and Avid Nitris DS systems.
