EMCORE Corporation, a leading provider of
compound semiconductor-based components and subsystems for
the video, broadband, fiber optic, satellite, and terrestrial
solar power markets, today announced the addition of SMPTE
424M and 425M compliant 3 Gb/s HD-SDI modules to the Optiva®
video transport product line.
Each Optiva® OTS-1HDP module transmits two independent
3G video signals. With this signal density, up to thirty (30)
424M compliant video signals may be transmitted through a
single 3RU 19" chassis. In addition to full 1080p, 50/60
Hz SMPTE 424M compliant video, the well-established SMPTE
292M and 259M, HD-SDI and SDI video broadcast formats are
auto-detected and broadcast as well. Optiva® was designed
to maintain quality uncompressed signal. Switching and multicasting
the OTS-1HDP over the OptiLinx® Switching Platform is
quick and simple, making this solution perfect for digital
cinema and video signal intensive production facilities.
"Emcore's OTS-1HDP product line, utilizing previously
acquired Opticomm technology, is a high performance, next
generation, complete solution for transmitting 3G HD-SDI broadcast
video over long or short fiber distances on a single wavelength.
Over the next several years, major broadcasters are expected
to migrate both fixed production facilities and their mobile
O/B facilities to 3G HD, preserving full 1080p throughout
the entire production and post-production process", said
Henok Tafese, Director of Business Development of Emcore Broadband.
"
The desire to produce high definition content at 12-bit color
depths and to provide support for R'G'B' and 4:4:4:4 processing,
is also driving these higher bandwidth requirements."
The OTS-1HDP is offered in a standard Optiva® insert card
form factor. These cards fit easily into the Optiva® 1RU
and 3RU 19" rack mount enclosures, or stand-alone desktop
enclosures. The 1RU and 3RU rack mount enclosures accommodate
up to 4 and 16 insert cards, respectively.
The desktop enclosures hold 1, 2, or 4 cards,
creating compact, mountable, stand-alone systems. The insert
cards are hot-swappable and can be used in any enclosure,
providing for future flexibility. Each housing unit operates
with an appropriate power supply, and modules are compatible
with the OptivaView SNMP Management Suite.
