EVS Broadcast Equipment has announced the
opening of a new office in Montréal to answer increasing
demand for EVS services in Canada.
EVS' importance in Canada has grown considerably in the past
year, as broadcasters and production companies have come to
rely on EVS technology more and more in their day-to-day operations.
"Canadian broadcasters and production companies have
always been an important part of EVS' user base, and our relationship
with these partners has increased exponentially over the past
few years," said Fred Garroy, General Manager of EVS
Americas. "We knew we needed to address this growth by
providing our Canadian partners with a more local option for
training, demos, and technical support issues."
The first EVS Canada office will be located in Montréal
and will be staffed by EVS-trained engineers.
EVS is proud to announce that Carl Boislard-Lanois, formerly
of CBC Radio-Canada, will be the first member of the EVS Canada
team, and will be serving as Senior Manager of Products and
Systems Integration.
"Carl has been working in broadcasting and production
for more than a decade, and his comprehensive experience in
post production is particularly important to our team, considering
the direction EVS is heading," said Garroy.
Integration with third-party tools has become a key component
of EVS equipment lately, especially with news regarding the
XT[2] server's native support of new HD codecs. Boislard-Lanois
has worked extensively with post production tools from both
companies, especially during his past few years as Chief Technician
of Post Production at CBC Radio-Canada in Montréal.
"I am very excited about the opportunity to represent
EVS in Montréal," said Boislard-Lanois. "I
have worked closely with the EVS Americas team in the past,
and am looking forward to joining them in their work in Canada."
Opening the new location is an essential preparation for EVS
in light of major upcoming events such as the 2008 Olympics
in Beijing and the Winter Games in Vancouver, which will require
extensive amounts of technical support and training for Canadian
support teams prior to the events.
