IBC TV News picked
EVS news production suite including CleanEdit 3.00 for the
production the IBC TV News
The IBC has selected EVS News Production
Suite including its renowned non-linear editor, CleanEdit
3.00, for the tapeless production of the IBC TV News. The
integrated system will be operated on-site in the Production
Village (Hall9) for the production of the IBC HD news programs
during the show from 11 to 15 September.

EVS instant tapeless technology will control the entire news
production workflow of the daily news programs, from breakfast
and midday news flashes, broadcast on IBC TV News channel,
to web-streaming, mobile content, and video podcast. The content
shot onto JVC tapeless camcorders will be recorded onto EVS
servers.
The process of ingest and clip creation will be managed by
the EVS scheduling module of IPDirector. Thanks to the powerful
XNet[2] high bandwidth media sharing network, live streams,
logged files and clips will be made instantly available on
any CleanEdit stations to search content and start building
the edits even while recording.
Editors working on one of the three CleanEdit non-linear editing
stations will prepare their HD news programs, including all
required transition and video effects as well as direct voice-over
recording capabilities. These CleanEdit 3.00 virtual editors
will maximize the production speed and efficiency of the IBC
TV News thanks to the NLEs native multi-format capabilities
with no need for a transcoding process. All of the content,
including final edits and raw material, will be kept available
seamlessly on all EVS servers including XT[2], XS and XStore[2]
for the whole duration of the show, allowing editors to browse
and use them at any time.
An additional Apple Final Cut Pro station will be used for
specific post-production operations. Final Cut Pro operators
will be able to browse and transfer final edits from CleanEdit
as well as any clips recorded on the XT[2] server for their
needs. Once created, all final edits will be sent to the newly
introduced EVS XS server configured for playout to IBC TV
News channel and multimedia delivery, including website streaming,
video podcast, mobile content, and more. Rundown actions and
playlist control will be managed by the IPDirector production
playlist.
Sue Robinson, Producer, IBCTV News said, "We chose EVS
systems because of their native integration with our other
equipment, not to mention the known reliability of EVS
software and hardware. The IBC TV News is the top place to
showcase quality, reliability, and efficiency, and we knew
EVS News Production Suite was up to the task.
Pierre LHoest, CEO at EVS said, We are delighted
that IBC TV News has selected EVS Instant Tapeless Technology
for such a key occasion. This is a fantastic opportunity for
EVS to demonstrate to the broadcast industry how it has been
able to turn its unique experience in fast-paced production
environments into efficient tapeless news solutions.
The IBC TV News will be broadcast to more than 9,000 hotel
rooms in Amsterdam each morning before being transmitted worldwide,
and will be repeated during the day at the RAI exhibition
centre. IBC TV News is produced on site at IBC the new The
Production Village, situated in Hall 9.
