August 20, 2007
Source: FOR-A
FOR-A Corporation
(IBC Hall 2, Stand #141) a leading manufacturer of video and
audio systems for the broadcast and professional video industries,
will demonstrate five new products at this years IBC.
FOR-A will
introduce the next generation of its VPS series of switchers,
the VPS-715 GINGA, a 1.5 M/E digital switcher, for the first
time in Europe at IBC 2007. FOR-A will also demonstrate the
FRC-7000 frame rate converter, which includes many new features
such as the worlds first 23.98psf motion-compensated
conversion support and Dolby E support.
IBC 2007 marks the first showing of the
companys HVS-1500HS HANABI 1.5 M/E switcher and the
HVS-600HS HANABI 1 M/E switcher in Europe since debuting at
NAB2007. FOR-A will also demonstrate the FA-9100RPS HD/SD,
its newest FA Series model of super signal processor, first
introduced in Europe at the Broadcast Live show in June.
FOR-A is continually refining and
advancing our products to offer the ideal solution for a variety
of broadcast applications, said Peter Jones, General
Manager FOR-A UK. Weve created high-quality switchers
like the HVS-1500HS and HVS-600HS with a compact design, offering
portability, and cost-effective HD/SD production. Our FA-9100RPS
super signal processor contains several enhancements that
make it the premier signal processor on the market today.
The reputation of our FRC-7000 frame rate converter has been
well established, given its performance on many high-profile
international events, such as Live Earth. Our recent upgrades
to its capabilities make it stand out even further from the
pack.
The VPS-715 GINGA switcher contains
all the valuable features of the VPS-700 in a 1.5 M/E digital
switcher. The VPS-715 switcher includes a frame synchronizer
for every input, up to 16 SD inputs and outputs, six keyers,
and six channels of 3D DVE. As an option on the VPS-715, users
can add 2D DVE in every input, delivering up to 32 DVE channels
and total flexibility for multi-source productions, as well
as the Flash recorder option for clips up to 120 seconds.
It supports the 525/60 and 625/50 standard definition formats
and is ideally suited for mobile production and in-studio
broadcasting applications.
The FRC-7000 uses vector motion compensation
processing to analyze and determine the pixel movement in
each image frame. This is accomplished by comparing the movement
in the frames before and after the ones being converted. The
FRC-7000s advanced scene cut detection automatically
detects scene changes and turns off motion compensation processing
so as to not affect the scenes before and after the frames
being converted. A complete, new set of frames is then created
in the required output standard. Dolby E materials can be
extracted or re-inserted using the FRC-7000s embed/de-embed
option then passed through or changed using an external Dolby
E encoder/decoder.
The HVS-1500HS and the HVS-600HS
are both compact, powerful switchers that support all major
HD formats. The HVS-1500HS offers three types of control panels:
24-button, 16-button, and rack mountable 12-button versions.
Within its 4RU main chassis, its possible to add memory
cards and optional storage. An optional frame memory provides
three seconds in each of its two channels to record HD, or
19 seconds in each of two channels to record SD video. With
memory expansion, these recording times can be doubled.
The HVS-600HS HANABI Portable
expands the features included in the HVS-500HS, and accepts
both HD and SD. The HVS-600HS offers four HD/SD-SDI inputs
and five HD/SD-SDI outputs in the base configuration. Four
additional HD/SD-SDI inputs and up to four analog inputs including
PC input can be installed as an option. On the HVS-600HS,
the Downstream Keyer (DSK) includes FOR-As advanced
chromakey function as standard, and a full functional keyer
can be installed as an option. The HVS-600HS offers 10-bit,
4:2:2 internal processing for a fraction the price of comparable
HD switchers.
The HVS-1500HS and HVS-600HS switchers offer
a high-performance DVE capable of real 3D DVE effects. This
true 3D DVE has polygonal-based effects where video is literally
wrapped around 3D shapes. It can produce an amazing variety
of splashy effects including 3D slabs that are very popular
in sports broadcasting. This DVE operates as a dual channel
in SD mode or as a single channel in HD mode. The HVS-600HS
still offers a dual-channel picture in picture function that
can be used without tying up the 3D DVE. The other new feature
added to the HVS-600HS is a bus for selecting keys or inputs
to the aux bus. The HVS-1500HS can also accommodate an optional
two quad split-screen function.
The new FA-9100RPS is an affordable
HD-based super signal processor. Its functionality goes beyond
a typical frame synchronizer and converter by offering several
options, including HDV/DV stream conversion, Dolby E encoder/decoder,
and HD/SD up/down and cross conversion. Other enhancements
to the FA-9100RPS include a powerful video delay circuit that
can delay video by up to four frames. This video delay can
be useful in a variety of applications including the signal
timing involved in FOR-As virtual studio systems. This
video delay is also useful for applications such as introducing
delay to adjust for Dolby E signals.
The FA-9100RPS can perform color correction
via an optional color corrector that integrates technology
from the FOR-A DCC color corrector series - the broadcast
industry standard. This technology enables many different
types of color correction, gamma correction, clip functions,
and other adjustments.
The FRC-7000, HVS-600HS, HVS-1500HS, and
FA-9100RPS are all currently shipping, and the VPS-715 will
be available at end of October.
