Two Gefen Scalers Refine HDMI Signals

July 30, 2007

Source: Gefen

Gefen demonstrates the usefulness of two of its upcoming switchers at IBC: the Home Theater Scaler Plus and the HDMI Scaler. Both enable the up/down scaling of high definition video signals in all resolutions from 480i to 1080p while supporting the embedded audio in the HDMI signal.

The Home Theater Scaler Plus, however, is differentiated by its unique assortment of offerings. It comes with four inputs in different formats: two HDMI, one component with digital audio and one composite/s-video with analog audio. It performs seamless source switching among all four inputs, controlled by IR remote, allowing instant access to multiple sources from the same display.

Component and composite/s-video inputs are converted to the HDMI format with the audio embedded in the same signal. This enables the plug and play connection of different formats and an easy method of integrating old and new equipment. A unique feature of this scaler is the independent audio output in both analog mini-stereo and digital TOSlink formats, alongside the HDMI audio/video output.

High definition resolutions can be tweaked using the Home Theater Scaler Plus in order to achieve the best imagery possible, including noise reduction, audio lip synching and color correction features.

Gefen’s HDMI Scaler, on the other hand, offers a simple system that can synchronize and scale high definition resolutions from one HDMI source to one HDMI display. It’s particularly useful when integrating equipment with different native resolutions or achieving a true 1080p output. It offers the same features for image quality and refinement including color corrections, deinterlacing, noise reduction and audio lip synching.

The ability to scale resolutions up and down ensures a convenience method of securing pure high definition video for a vibrant HDTV experience.
