HaiVision IBC2008 Preview - Booth No. IP253

July 10, 2008

Source: HaiVision Systems

MAKO-HD for TelePresence and Interactive Broadcast
The MAKO-HD is the premier codec for telepresence, interactive broadcast (remote interviews), and medical applications. It is ideal for low-latency HD distribution such as within head ends for HD signage and stadium applications. As a high-performance, high-definition H.264 codec for the hai1000 multi-stream system, it provides the lowest end-to-end latency available — 70 milliseconds — and supports up to 1080p resolution at up to 10 Mbps. This codec also has the unique capability of supporting full-frame rate WXGA computer input. The MAKO-equipped hai1000 can support up to 10 interactive streams of high definition simultaneously. For addressing multi-bandwidth distribution, the MAKO provides for HiLo streaming — emitting both high-resolution and CIF resolution simultaneously for the same source. Fully H.264 compliant, the MAKO is interoperable with set top boxes, soft players, Flash and Quicktime streaming servers, and HaiVision's SHARE-HD multi-stream network video recorder.

SHARE-HD — 3 Multi-Stream High Definition H.264 Network Video Recorder
HaiVision will also be highlighting the release of its new SHARE-HD Network Video Record Server, designed for the most rigorous recording environments and supporting synchronized multi-stream HD recording (up to 10 HD or 20 SD streams). SHARE-HD is resolution independent and can capture/manage/playback HD, SD, and even computer content from the MAKO-HD encoder at full frame rates. Controlled via its web interface or remotely through third party control systems, SHARE-HD captures multiple streams synchronously and can replay these multi-stream sessions to performance decoders, set top boxes, or soft players. SHARE-HD fully supports both stream- and time-based metadata (events). SHARE-HD is specifically designed for challenges in the medical, education, simulation, and military markets.

Live Flash with Wowza
At IBC the company will also demonstrate how Wowza Media Systems, with their Flash server, fully supports HaiVision products, including the new MAKO-HD. Visitors at the show can get a first look at MAKO high definition to Flash and see for themselves how the MAKO/Wowza solution provides the lowest latency and highest reliability for live video distribution through the enterprise or over the internet. With HiLo streaming the MAKO can simultaneously provide high-bandwidth and low-bandwidth streams to the Wowza server for distribution to network destinations with varying capacities.
