Harris Corporation Ships First Fully Functional 3 Gb/s HD Broadcast Routers

Harris Corporation, an international communications and information technology company, has begun shipping its first fully functional 3 Gb/s routing systems. The capability to pass 3 Gb/s signals is now standard on all high-definition (HD) routing systems purchased from the company's industry-leading Platinum™ and Platinum™ MX lines.

The high-capacity, small-footprint Platinum™ and Platinum™ MX routing switchers provide high-quality signal routing up to 128x128 in 9RU, 256x256 in 15RU and 512x512 in 28RU. Platinum™ routers offer unprecedented flexibility, now supporting a mix of any signal — video and audio, from analog to 3 Gb/s HD-SDI — all in the same frame. Because Platinum™ routers were designed with all internal paths 3 Gb/s-capable from their inception, input, output and cross-point cards capable of passing 3 Gb/s signals are available separately for shipment to existing Platinum™ HD-SDI router customers.
