Harris Corporation has been awarded a contract
to supply Gearhouse Broadcast, a leading international broadcast
services company, with a substantial amount of high-definition
core processing equipment for use in the production of live
events such as the Euro 2008 football championships and the
2008 Beijing Summer Games.
The equipment spans the Harris high-definition (HD) product
portfolio, comprising a large number of 6800+ core processing
products, as well as a range of multiviewers, including the
award-winning Zandar Predator II multiviewer and
the Zandar QS100HD Quad multiviewer in a card.
"We have worked with Harris for many years, and a wide
range of the company's infrastructure and test and measurement
products are used regularly in different customer applications,"
said Kevin Moorhouse, technical director, Gearhouse Broadcast.
"We were keen to use 'tried and tested' products for
these upcoming high-profile sporting events, and Harris offered
the best solution to meet our processing needs. Furthermore,
the recent acquisition of Zandar by Harris provided us with
an ideal opportunity to explore their expanded range of multiviewers,
and we were able to select the multi-image display processors
that were perfectly suited for these events."
The Harris portfolio of multi-image display processors ranges
from its first-of-a-kind QS100 HD Quad multiviewer in a card
to CENTRIO multiviewer, now recognized as a world-class,
breakthrough multi-image processor built to streamline complex,
mid- to large-scale broadcast monitoring applications. Specially
designed for the Sony® LMD range of monitors, the QS100HD
Quad card is ideal for space saving in applications such as
outside broadcast/mobile production such as EURO 2008 football
and the Beijing games. The award-winning Predator II multiviewer
is a highly scalable, auto-sensing solution for control and
monitoring applications that require a truly flexible architecture.
