Harris Corporation (NYSE:HRS), an international
communications and information technology company, was honored
with three prestigious industry awards at the 2007 International
Broadcasting Convention (IBC2007) convention in Amsterdam,
Netherlands.
The companys next-generation NEXIO AMP advanced
media platform won TV Technology-Europe magazine's STAR Award
(Superior Technology Award Recipient). NEXIO AMP dramatically
expands the functionality of video transmission servers and
provides a foundation for a scalable, end-to-end HD/SD television
solution. Its server architecture breaks new ground for fault
tolerance, while the ability to add software-enabled media
services improves workflow efficiency throughout the entire
acquisition-transmission chain.
Harris was also honored with Broadcast Engineering magazine's
Pick Hit award for its HD-STAR handheld HD/SD personal
test monitor and generator and its Videotek® QuiC
media analysis server system. The HD-STAR is the only
handheld product on the market that provides both an HD and
SD test generator with monitoring. It is a rechargeable, handheld
HD-SDI and SD-SDI video and audio monitor and video generator
with embedded audio. The Videotek® QuiC media analysis
server system is a fully automated test and measurement platform
designed to verify the quality of video and audio content
stored on servers and storage networks.
Winning these prestigious industry awards underscores
the success of our Harris Broadcast Communications ONE initiative
to provide interoperable workflow solutions that span the
entire broadcast delivery chain, said Tim Thorsteinson,
president of Harris Broadcast Communications. The unique
Harris approach brings together highly integrated and cost-effective
products that are ideal for emerging media business models
and for customers upgrading media operations to digital and
high-definition services.
The TV Technology-Europe STAR Awards are designed to celebrate
and showcase the preeminent technological innovations available
to the broadcast industry. The editor of TV Technology-Europe
magazine reviewed a variety of products, examined the technical
applications and their overall contribution to the industry,
and then selected the winners.
The Broadcast Engineering Pick Hit Awards are the industry's
longest-running new technology awards. An anonymous panel
of Broadcast Engineering readers who are working professionals
in the broadcast, post and network and satellite industries
selected the winners.
