Harris and ObjectVideo Provide Advanced Security at Remote Sites

September 24, 2007

Source: Harris Broadcast

ObjectVideo®, the leader in intelligent video, and Harris Corporation (NYSE: HRS), an international communications and information technology company, jointly announced that they have entered into an agreement to create an advanced system that provides added security and protection at remote sites. The new solution is designed for customers with mission critical communications and security needs, including public safety, federal government agencies, transit authorities, and broadcasters.

Under the agreement, Harris has integrated the ObjectVideo OnBoard™ digital signal processing-based suite of analytics software tools within the video encoding module of its Intraplex® NetXpress™ managed IP networking platform. The Intraplex® NetXpress™ platform provides a versatile IP edge solution for the transport of surveillance video, voice, data, and program audio.

Integrating ObjectVideo OnBoard™ software within the NetXpress™ video encoder expands the system’s capability, providing an additional layer of security monitoring and protection. ObjectVideo’s industry leading video content analysis software intelligently discerns objects of interest; distinguishes between humans, vehicles, and other objects; continuously tracks positions for all moving and stationary targets; and recognizes if objects have been removed or left behind at the designated site; among other possible security breaches. When significant changes are detected in the video, ObjectVideo OnBoard™ immediately issues alerts—complete with still images or full-motion video—over the IP network to security personnel and maintains detailed event logs.

“Designed as an embedded solution, ObjectVideo OnBoard™ video analytics software works as a highly efficient core technology within OEM devices to promote stronger security at customer installations,” said Brian Eckert, vice president of sales and marketing for ObjectVideo, in Reston, VA. “By working with Harris Corporation, we will continue to meet the growing demand for integrated intelligent video solutions with a superior product offering.”

According to Tim Thorsteinson, president of Harris Broadcast Communications, “Our Intraplex® customers realize the importance of securing their facilities. The implementation of ObjectVideo OnBoard™ enables our customers to monitor their facilities and assets without having to add personnel or dedicate personnel to guard remote sites.”
