I-MOVIX announced it has set an April 2010
release date for a significantly enhanced version of its SprintCam
V3 HD ultra-slow-motion system.

New features include, among others, a wider range of available
frame rates (from 150 to 2,000 fps) with instant replay, simultaneous
capture and record, built-in intercom, and integration of
both live- and replay-view on the viewfinder.
Launched in April 2009, the SprintCam V3 HD ultra-slow-motion
broadcast system already has achieved unprecedented success
in sports, documentary, commercial, and movie production because
of its unique combination of topnotch image quality, light
sensitivity, flexible broadcast integration, and easy, out-of-the-box
operation.
Among the first broadcasters to take advantage of the SprintCam
V3 HD has been TV GLOBO in Brazil, which is known locally
and internationally for its high-quality content.
"We are delighted to be the first to offer Brazilian
audiences true high-definition, ultra-slow motion pictures
delivered by the SprintCam V3 HD," said José Manuel
Mariño, news and sports engineering director, TV GLOBO.
"The product is easy to set up and operate, and opens
up many creative possibilities for both our live and prerecorded
productions."
With the enhanced SprintCam V3 HD, a user will be able to
capture images at 150 to 2,000 frames per second and then
replay them instantly in high definition (1080i resolution
at 50, 59, and 60) at speeds between 6 and 80 times slower
than real time.
More new features include segmented memory; a more compact
2U camera control unit housing; flexible EVS Multicam integration;
auto-clip to enable mark-in to mark-out replay from the camera
control unit; a digital lens interface for better iris and
lens switch control; and added flexibility in the viewfinder
interface to accommodate either Sony CRT or Grass Valley.
"SprintCam V3 HD brought well-known SprintCam functionality,
intuitive operation, and outstanding image quality to customers
who needed an HD-native system," said Laurent Renard,
CEO of I-MOVIX. "Now, having listened to our customers,
we are adding new features that make the system even more
functional in more situations."
The SprintCam V3 HD system comprises a high-speed Photron
SA-2 HD camera; an operational control panel that affords
a broadcast-quality color matrix and selection of optimal
frame rate; a slow motion remote for selecting and replaying
a video sequence via an HD-SDI output; and the camera control
unit, the heart of the device, which enables the slow-motion
instant replay.
Today's announcement from I-MOVIX is the first of two slated
for early 2010, both relating to key innovations in the SprintCam
line of ultra-slow-motion products. The second can be expected
pending successful product testing.
