Irdeto Releases New IPTV Scrambler

Irdeto’s new IPTV Scrambler product performs real-time content scrambling at the MPEG-2 TS level reaching speeds of up to 850 Mbps. The IPTV Scrambler enables the following features:

  • Enhanced Time Shift TV functionality, including Network PVR and Pause TV
  • Ability to support full or partial scrambling of H.264 or MPEG-2 video
  • Use of DVB CSA or AES CBC ciphers for scrambling
    Support for standards-based quality monitoring (DVB ETR 290)
  • Support for standards-based advertisement insertion signaling (SCTE-35 Cue-Tone Signaling)
  • Modular redundancy and scalability options

  • Irdeto secures the Entertainment 2.0 business model making it a reality now. The company will be showcasing cutting-edge security including watermarking, encrypting and scrambling innovations. Irdeto will also demonstrate how bridging CA with DRM technology enables true data portability from the broadcast stream to the DVR to the mobile device. Specific demos include:
  • IPTV moves center-stage at IBC 2007. Irdeto and Huawei have teamed to present joint solutions available from the Irdeto international IPTV partner eco-system. An end-to-end solution will be on display at the Irdeto booth, including AES scrambling, VOD and time shift TV.

The digital conversion across Europe and the United States is making the STB a necessity. Irdeto and its partners will demonstrate the latest STB solutions, placing a heavy emphasis on push VOD services. Partners include Pace, DigiTurk, OpenTV and Tandberg.

Content security becomes paramount as the value of content rises. Irdeto and Philips will demonstrate the latest forensic watermarking solutions. The partnership integrates conditional access within the watermark; allowing operators to trace illegal content back to its original recipient.

The mobile environment is gaining steam in Europe, especially with regulatory guidance pointing to a unified DVB-H standards effort. Irdeto will have its latest DVB-H device partnerships on display.
