Source: Network Electronics

Network Electronics, manufacturer of the VikinX router and Flashlink signal processing and optical video transport ranges, announced today that its NAB line-up will include a high-quality electrical/optical frame synchronizer and a high-definition down converter.

FRS-HD-DMUX High quality electrical and optical frame synchronizer Network Electronics will formally introduce its FRS-HD-DMUX, a high quality frame synchronizer that uniquely combines the electrical and optical domains, to the US market at NAB 2008. The FRS-HD-DMUX was designed following extensive customer research to offerattractive, high-quality HD/SDI frame synchronization to the most demanding broadcasters and network operators.

Key features: • SD-SDI and HD-SDI frame synchronization • One optical and one electrical input - Automatic or user specified input select • Four electrical outputs; one serving as a buffered loop-through of the input signal • Sync input with un-buffered loop-through • Options include: - Stereo audio out + AES out - Stereo out + de-embedding of RS-422 DWC-HD-DMUX HD down-converter with optical input and audio decoding The DWC-HD-DMUX, a fully functional down-converter, from HD-SDI to SD-SDI, with composite video monitoring and audio decoding, can accommodate an enormous range of video transportation networks. The cutting-edge algorithms enable the unit to provide an extremely high feature-cost ratio. The DWC-HD-DMUX's rich feature-set and industry leading reliability continue the tradition that has become Network Electronics' legacy.

Applications: • Multirate fibre optical receiver with SD and composite video monitoring output. Ideal as an optical receiver for OB vans, this unit is a very compact solution that additionally provides multi-rate incoming line monitoring. • Transmitter side optical receiver for HD broadcast with SD down-conversion for simultaneous SD broadcasting. • General purpose HD to SD down-conversion with full broadcast quality and full audio re-embedding functionality. • Full audio and video HD monitoring on low-cost SD and composite video monitors. Key Features: • Optical input with direct re-clocked electrical output • High-quality down-conversion • Analogue audio monitoring • SDI and analogue video output • Internal video and audio generator • SD frame-store for down-converter output
