RED buys Ren Mar Studios in Hollywood

At an event introducing the new Epic sensor, RED executives announced that the company had purchased Ren Mar Studios, on Cahuenga in Hollywood.

The name will be changed to RED Studios Hollywood.

OConnor Announces New Camera Accessory Line
The first OConnor camera accessory is a modular cine-style follow-focus system.
 
The compact and low profile unit enables quick, tool-free mounting on standard rod systems. This new OConnor cine-style follow focus is compatible with all standard follow-focus accessories and driver gears.
 
The OConnor cine-style follow focus will be available for preorder in March. Delivery is scheduled to begin in April.
MHz Successfully Completes Systems Integration at the Times Group India
Megahertz (MHz), an international systems integrator, has completed the design, engineering and build out of four new HD-ready studios, a digital automated server-based newsroom and a multi-channel playout master control room (MCR) at the Times Group in Mumbai, India.
 
MHz also provided the design consultancy for eight DSNG vehicles for the company. These expansions have enabled the Times Group to launch a number of new channels including ET NOW, its recently introduced television news channel being produced in collaboration with the Economic Times, a leading Indian financial daily newspaper.

Latvia to Make Historic DTV Switch with Technology from Grass Valley
Grass Valley announced that it is assisting, through its distributor and system integrator in the Baltics Hannu-Pro, Latvia State Radio and Television Center (LVRTC) to make the switch from analog to digital transmission by installing an advanced DVB-T network that features encoding, multiplexing, and nationwide distribution technology and systems from Grass Valley.
Angenieux Lenses Now Available at New York's The Studio - B&H

Thales Angenieux announced that their Optimo Rouge lenses and a selection of other broadcast and film lenses are now available through The Studio - B&H.

HaiVision's Newest MAKITO HD H.264 Video Encoder With DVI, SXGA, and Component Inputs Now Shipping
HaiVision Network Video announced that the new MAKITO with DVI input is now shipping.
 
Delivering low-latency, full-frame-rate H.264 encoding of HD video (up to 1080p60) or computer graphics resolutions (SXGA up to 1280x1024 60Hz), the new MAKITO supports component analog, DVI, and XGA (RGBHV) inputs.
Vizrt and Storm Weather Center Announce Deal with Channel 7 Thailand
Vizrt announced a deal with Channel 7 from Thailand, worth THB 115 million [Thai Baht] (approximately USD 3.5 million).

The sale provides the Thai public television channel with a full Vizrt workflow, ranging from broadcast graphics creation to network infrastructure.
 
It marks the first combined sale between Vizrt Asia and its strategic partner, Storm Weather Center AS.
Greg Hoskin Joins OmniBus Systems as Executive VP of Broadcast Sales
Hoskin returns to the company after spells in strategic roles at Omneon and Megahertz Broadcast Systems.
 
DVS appoints Alain Polgar as Vice President Sales EMEA & APAC
Prior to joining DVS, Alain Polgar was the Vice President of International Sales at Ascent Media, one of the world's largest media service companies.
 
Previously, he held several senior management positions in International Sales, Marketing and Business Development at Avid, Pinnacle Systems, Fast Multimedia, and Thomson Grass Valley.

ARRI Hires Industry Veteran Michael Bravin

Michael Bravin is joining ARRI Inc. as Vice President of Market Development for Digital Camera Products.

Reporting to Bill Russell, Vice President of Camera Products. Bravin will be based out of the Burbank, CA office as part of the team dedicated to the marketing and sales of ARRI's new ALEXA digital camera line throughout the North and South American market.
