Avid Acquires Blue Order

Avid has bought the German media asset management company Blue Order Technologies for an undisclosed fee.

The company said that it would not be revealing terms of the deal but did acknowledge that all Blue Order customers have been notified about the acquisition and that Avid will continue to develop and support current Blue Order products.

ARRI CSC Adds Weisscam to Inventory
ARRI CSC, a full service equipment rental group, has enhanced its range of digital cameras.

Besides the ARRIFLEX D-21 and the Phantom, the camera rental department has now added the Weisscam HS-2 to its inventory.

HD broadcasting kicks off in Germany with Quantel
From the 13th February 2010, German broadcaster WDR in Cologne will begin broadcasting major sports programming in HDTV, spearheaded by the flagship 'Sportsschau Bundesliga' German premier league soccer coverage.
 
The whole production process, from ingest to playout, will be handled in HD using Quantel Enterprise sQ server-based production technology.

KVTN Updates Aging Control Room with Broadcast Pix

Broadcast Pix announced that KVTN, a Christian broadcast station in Little Rock, Ark., that is the flagship station for the Victory Television Network (VTN), purchased the Broadcast Pix Slate 1000 integrated production system to replace older equipment and prepare for an eventual transition to HD production.

P. Harris Morris Named President of Harris Broadcast

Harris has named P. Harris Morris as president of the company's Broadcast Communications business.

Previously, Morris served as vice president and general manager of the Media and Workflow area of the Broadcast Communications business.
