Optibase Sells its Video Business to a Subsidiary of VITEC Multimedia
Under the terms of the transaction VITEC Multimedia will pay Optibase an aggregate amount of US $8 million in cash of which US $1 million will be deposited in escrow for a 2-year period.
 
VITEC Multimedia develops video Compression and Decompression solutions.
 
Optibase provides video over IP solutions, specializing in video encoding, decoding and streaming.
Research:  Global Broadcast and Media Sales Turnover Declines but Indications are Positive
IABM has published its latest Industry Index which tracks the financial performance of supplier companies in the broadcast and media sector.
 
Global sales turnover by those supplying technology to broadcast and media companies has declined by 7.2% for the last 12 months as compared to the prior 12 months. There are indicators, however, that during the last quarter of 2009, the decline was halted.
2010 SMPTE Tech Conference & Expo - Call for Papers
The Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers (SMPTE) is seeking proposals for technical papers and tutorials for the 2010 SMPTE Technical Conference & Exhibition.
 
Proposed papers must be informational in nature and must address technical theory, research, application, or practice associated with technologies relevant to the Motion Imaging Industry.
I-MOVIX and Vision Research Partner

Press Association Sport and VidiGo team up for sports broadcast graphics

Press Association Sport, a sports information provider, and VidiGo, provider of broadcast software products, have signed a partnership for the global distribution of Press Association Sport's content in combination with VidiGo Graphics.

The deal makes VidiGo Graphics the preferred broadcast graphic engine to power Press Association Sport's broadcast solutions and sports data.

BBC Cambridge using Shotoku Broadcast 3-channel robotically controlled camera system

The system is comprised of two TG-18 and one TG-27 pan/tilt heads for exceptionally smooth and accurate performance at all speeds and shooting angles.

Playbox Hits Record Sales in 2009
PlayBox Technology, a 'TV station in a box' manufacturer, reports record sales in 2009. 
 
Provisional figures for 2009 show 28 % consolidated volume growth over 2008 due to their development of regional markets as well as its continued technical product development. The new PlayBox product lines in the Digital Signage and AV markets also added to the numbers.
Chyron Reports Financial Results
Revenues of $7.2 million for the fourth quarter of 2009, up 7% over the prior year's fourth quarter and up 13% over the third quarter of 2009; revenues of $25.6 million for fiscal year 2009, down 25% from the prior year.
