Avid Acquires Euphonix
Avid plans to further develop an open standard protocol that greatly expands the ecosystem of compatibility between the Euphonix control surfaces and a wide range of Avid and third-party audio and video applications, including Media Composer and Pro Tools.

For existing Euphonix customers, Avid will continue to support EuCon- the Euphonix high-speed Ethernet protocol that enables its control surfaces to interface with third-party software.
 
The transaction closed on April 21, 2010.

ARRI, FUJINON and ZEISS announced a strategic partnership designed to utilize the unique strengths of each company in order to create innovative new products.

The agreement consists of an open exchange of ideas, standards and technologies, as well as close cooperation in the development of new products.

Thales Angenieux and Cooke Optics collaborate to incorporate /i Technology
/i Technology enables film and digital cameras to automatically record key lens and camera data for every film frame shot and provide it to post-production teams digitally.
 
The /i capability is now built into an external box that will connect to the lens. Moving forward, i/ Technology will be built into Thales Angenieux' new lens designs.
Four Belo Corp. Stations Choose Video Technics for their Master Control and Broadcast HD Server Needs
Video Technics was chosen by Belo Corp.to meet their master control server needs at three stations, WCNC-TV, the NBC affiliate in Charlotte, N.C.; WVEC-TV, the ABC affiliate in Norfolk, VA.; and KREM-TV, the CBS affiliate in Spokane, WA.; and news production needs at KMSB-TV, the Fox affiliate in Tucson, AZ.
 
The scalable solution is built around the Apella HDS video server that provides 608/708 and legacy Line 21 closed caption conversions, SD/HD up & down conversion, mixed codec and file container database, and full MOS and VDCP interface support.

Softel Works to Streamline Closed Caption Workflow on Avid Video Editing Systems
Softel announced that it is working to streamline closed caption workflow on Avid video editing workstations.

The two companies are collaborating to develop a plug-in based on Softel's Swift vTX software, allowing users of Avid Media Composer, Symphony and NewsCutter solutions to import and export subtitle/caption files and accurately preserve caption data throughout the editing process.
Bluefish444 Adds Cross Platform Support For Red Camera Workflows & B444 Products
Bluefish444 announced it will make significant software upgrades to its support for Final Cut Studio, Adobe Creative Suite and Symmetry software by offering desktop and SDI/DVI/HDMI preview and mastering of RED Camera R3D files, which will be available Q2, 2010.
