| Sky chooses Quantel for next-generation facility | | Sky has purchased a Quantel Enterprise sQ integrated production system to produce Sky Sports News at its new Harlequin 1 production facility.
At the heart of the system are seven Quantel multi-resolution sQ servers with 1500 hours of storage. These support 84 sQ Cut journalist desktop editors and three sQ Edit Plus craft editors. The system also integrates two Final Cut Pro systems within the Quantel workflow.

| KBMT Launches HD Local News with JVC PROHD Cameras for ENG and Studio Use | | | KBMT, the ABC affiliate in Beaumont, Texas will be using JVC GY-HD250 and GY-HM700 ProHD cameras when it launches its local HD newscasts.
Mark Cormier, chief engineer, said the London Broadcasting station has purchased three GY-HD250 cameras, which are already in use in SD mode in the studio, plus seven GY-HM700 cameras for ENG use.

This shared storage system will support the workflow processes necessary to accept, transcode, and distribute file-based program content efficiently to a number of distributors, including the Network Operation Center, Web, mobile, and VOD platforms.
PBS programming is collected and prepped on Avid Media Composer. Then, the finished DNX145 HD files are moved from the Avid ISIS to the SAN Solutions system over multiple 10Gb Ethernet links. | Harris Corporation Reports Strong Third Quarter Orders, Revenue and Earnings | | |
Orders in the Broadcast Communications segment were $130 million in the third quarter. Orders were significantly higher compared with the prior-year quarter of $108 million, but somewhat lower than second quarter orders of $139 million.
Revenue in the third quarter was $123 million compared with $132 million in the prior-year quarter, but was sequentially higher than second quarter revenue of $117 million.
