ARRIS Purchases Digeo in Cash Transaction
ARRIS Group Inc. announced that it has agreed to purchase the assets of Digeo, Inc., including its intellectual property portfolio, for a cash purchase price of approximately $20 million.
 
The Digeo acquisition, along with the recently announced acquisition of EG Technology (EGT), provides ARRIS with technical expertise in video networking and a multimedia services delivery platform.
The next generation of ARRI digital cameras
ARRI announced a new range of 35mm-format digital
cameras at IBC 2009 - codenamed Alexa.
 
The Alexa product lineup, starting at a price tag of approximately €50k, will be available for sale commencing the second quarter of 2010. 
New Feature for JVC GY-HM700 Camcorder Allows Recorder of .MP4 Files to SDHC Cards
 
As with the smaller GY-HM100 camcorder, .MP4 files can now be recorded onto the SDHC card along with .MOV files when the SxS adapter is not attached, providing enhanced flexibility for shooting and offering a unique dual media concept.
 
JVC has also added a more powerful built-in DNR to the GY-HM700, which produces higher picture quality.

SDS Radio Software Secures Agreement with Eastlan Ratings
Specialty Data Systems (SDS) Inc., a provider of broadcast management software, has announced that it is now a third-party provider of Eastlan Ratings for radio stations in the U.S.
 
Eastlan Ratings, a privately-held media research firm headquartered in Sammamish, Washington, provides radio audience measurement data to over 450 subscribing radio stations in more than 90 markets across the U.S.

Canada's Olympic Broadcast Media Consortium to Use Ross Production Solutions
Canada's Olympic Broadcast Media Consortium is gearing up to provide extensive coverage of the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games with seven Ross Vision Multi-Definition Production Switchers.
 
Earlier this year Ross Video entered a five year agreement with CTVglobemedia to provide high definition production control room technologies for all CTV properties.
Panasonic's New Handheld AVCCAM HD Recorder and Pocket-Sized Remote Camera Head to Ship in October 2009
Panasonic Broadcast has announced pricing and delivery of its new AG-HMR10 AVCCAM compact field recorder/player and the ultra-slim AG-HCK10 remotely controlled 3-MOS HD camera head.
 
The AG-HMR10 handheld recorder and the AG-HCK10 compact camera head will be available in October at suggested list prices of $2,600 and $1,800, respectively.
 
Shipments of the HMR10 recorder will come initially (through March 2010) bundled with free Neo 2 video editing software (Retail Value: $199).

Immanuel Baptist Church Chooses Broadcast Pix
David Probus, director of I-Tech ministries at the church said they purchased the Broacast Pix Slate 5000 in a bit of an emergency situation. One Sunday, the old analog switcher they had been using for the past 15 years locked up on them - while they were on the air.
LEIGHTRONIX PEGvault-SD Enables Remote, Live Broadcast of Cherry Festival Parade
Up North 2, a public access cable television station, turned to LEIGHTRONIX and the Internet for help delivering the festival parade to the northern Michigan viewing community.
 
In addition to providing point-to-point signal transmission, the system needed to produce a digital media file suitable for broadcast at a later time, as well as media for streaming video-on-demand from their Web site.
 
Up North used a high-speed data connection and the LEIGHTRONIX PEGvault-SD digital video encoder.
