Emerson to Acquire Avocent Corporation
The Avocent Board of Directors unanimously endorsed the terms of an all-cash tender offer of $25 per share, or approximately $1.2 billion.
 
The purchase is expected to close around January 1, 2010
Tim Thorsteinson Leaving Harris Broadcast
Tim Thorsteinson, the president of Harris Broadcast for the past three and a half years, is leaving his position effective October 31, 2009. 
 
Harris has begun searching both internal and external candidates for his successor.
Eyeheight introduces range of compact legalisers
The LE-2nM, LE-2nS and LE-2nU are single-card legalisers housed in a rackmountable or free-standing half-rack-width 1 U chassis with external mains power supply.
 
They are available now.
HD Camera Guide Videos Get Interactive
The site, which features broadcast and professional HD cameras, lenses, and accessories has added a new feature that lets the viewer "Ask This Speaker a Question."
 
Viewers can use this feature to ask television technology consultant Mark Schubin to elaborate on a point he made during his video tutorial on HD camera-imager sizes.

TV Worldwide Chooses JVC GY-HD200 PROHD Camcorders to Shoot PSA Campaign for Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund
JVC announced that TV Worldwide, a pioneering Web-based global TV network in Chantilly, Virginia, used two JVC GY-HD200 ProHD camcorders to shoot six 30-second public service announcements (PSAs) in cooperation with the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund.
 
The PSA campaign can be viewed at TV Worldwide's veteran's affairs Web channel, www.usvets.tv.
Fast Forward Video Releases Firmware Upgrade for Seamless JPEG2000 Transfer Into Final Cut Pro
FFV has released a firmware upgrade and codec for its line of broadcast-quality digital video recorders (DVRs) that enables direct importing of JPEG2000.mov files into nonlinear editing (NLE) systems such as Final Cut Pro. 
 
Downloading the file is now a simple matter of connecting the DVR to the computer via USB and then dragging and dropping it into a timeline.
Islam Channel Chooses VectorBox for Broadcast Automation
Vector 3, provider of graphics and playout solutions, announced that Islam Channel has installed 2 Vectorbox 8000 HD systems and Vector configured NAS system to manage automated, multi-channel playout and production storage of three Islam Channel signature channels; Islam Channel, Islam Channel Urdu, and Noor TV. 
Sunrise Cable Network Expands with MINI-T-NX Video Server from Leightronix
Sunrise Communications, a cable TV and high-speed Internet provider, recently expanded the Sunrise Cable Network with a new cable headend installation of the LEIGHTRONIX MINI-T-NX video server.
 
Each Sunrise channel installation is based on the LEIGHTRONIX MINI-T-NX video server, which provides remote media management and delivery, fully automated 24/7 playback, and local storage for hundreds of hours of programming.
Miranda Appoints Richard Brice as Senior Vice President, US Sales
Prior to this new position, Richard was Miranda's European Managing Director, and also President of the Asian division at an earlier stage.

News 8 Austin Relies on Utah Scientific Routers
News 8, the 24-hour cable news station in Austin, Texas, has installed a 144-frame UTAH-400 routing switcher and the company's SC-4 control as the basis for a phased-in HD upgrade.
 
The Utah SC-4 Control System, enables News 8 operators to control and monitor routers, master control, and multiviewers easily, regardless of signal format.
 
With support from Utah's MX-Lator unit, the SC-4 also controls the station's Venus audio router.
