NVISION Supplies Router Systems for Sweetwater's New 53-Foot HD Video Production Truck

April 7, 2008

Source: NVISION

When designing its newest 53-foot double-expando HD video production truck – Cobalt - Sweetwater Digital Productions chose NVISION's NV8288 Digital Video Router, NV9000 Router Control and Panels, and Synapse signal processing equipment. Sweetwater, located in Van Nuys, California is a leading provider of mobile production services for the entertainment industry. Sweetwater's Cobalt production truck recently had its debut at the "Independent Spirit Awards" broadcast live in March from Santa Monica, CA. Cobalt will also be used for "Last Comic Standing" and the upcoming live "43rd Annual Academy of Country Music Awards," both in Las Vegas.

Mark Hale, Chief Engineer at Sweetwater, states, "After considering different vendors' products, Sweetwater chose NVISION routers and Synapse equipment as the primary conversion and processing solution for Cobalt. Several factors were considered in the evaluation process including a tight transmission path, functionality, signal quality, and space efficiency. With only 53 feet available, we had to maximize the use of our space. The NV8288 is only 12 inches deep for a 576 x 576 router, and with the Synapse modules, we were able to save a full rack of space in the Cobalt design compared to other alternatives."

Hale adds, "With Cobalt being a mobile production facility, it's critical that we provide a system solution for our clients comparable to the most advanced fixed production facilities on the market today. With NVISION, we have a high-quality, seamless and tight operation, with room to expand and add more capability as we need it."

Stephen Sharp, Engineer at Sweetwater comments, "NVISION has the most robust systems at the right price. Early on, they listened to our technical needs and helped configure the right solution, tweaks included. And the NVISION service and support team is extraordinary – if you need them, they're on hand with the immediate and right solution."

Mark Hale and Stephen Sharp along with other Sweetwater staff Engineers collaborated with NVISION on the design of Sweetwater Digital Production's new 53-foot double-expando HD video production truck, Cobalt. Sweetwater's customer focus is the entertainment industry.
