Online Production TV Station Launched

The Reel Show, an online TV channel for the people involved on the creative side of film and TV production.

With hours of original content and in-depth information, the Reel Show is a must-see for anyone from film students to Hollywood directors.

The Reel Show is free for registered viewers and each month new original programming will be added. Content includes unique behind-the-scenes film set footage, independent product tests and reviews by top filmmakers, debate and discussion programs. The show covers all aspects of the creative process, including producing short films, features, TV programs and commercials, and will include in-depth information on lighting, cinematography, audio, VFX and editing, all provided by industry professionals. The Reel Show will also include interviews with legendary filmmakers from around the world.

Current content includes Reel Show Question Time (3 episodes) - a debate show discussing current issues in the film/TV industry. The first show includes panellists Rodney Charters ASC (director of photography on Fox's 24) and Geoff Boyle (feature film cinematographer and film equipment guru). Other panel shows include a 3D special, which discusses the latest innovations in stereoscopic filmmaking.

An interview with editor Anne Coates who won an Oscar for her editing of Lawrence of Arabia and has worked with many of the great directors over the past 50 years from David Lean to David Lynch.

Reviews of many cameras including the Canon HV20, Sony F23, Sony EX1, Grass Valley Infinity, Red One, Arri D-20, and the new Panasonic HPX3000.

Plus: interviews with the makers of the first short filmed using only CCTV cameras, the director and animator of the BBCs Attila the Hun (Heroes and Villians series), an interview with the makers of the first feature using the Sony EX1 camera, and an on-set making of for Dark Country, the first 3D movie shot on the Red One and Silicon Imaging 2K cameras, including an extensive interview with director/star Thomas Jane.

Many more hours of programming are due to go live in the very near future, including interviews with the Dreamworks team responsible for the latest full lengh animation, Fung Fu Panda, on-set test of the Dalsa D-21 on a David Fincher shoot, a behind-the-scenes of the latest Bond movie, Quantum of Solace with special FX DP David Stump, and an interview with the creative team at CBS Digital, who have just completed updating all the FX on the second original series of Star Trek (with Kirk and Spock) in time for its high definition DVD release.

The Reel Show is shot on HDV cameras and edited on Final Cut Pro and Abode After Effects. The Reel Show website was developed by digital agency iTherapy Ltd. iTherapy's roots lie in film production and use extensive video in their designs. iTherapy specializes in interactive advertising for the entertainment industry, especially independent film and TV promotions.

Steve Parker has been producing magazines related to film and TV production for over 20 years. Steve has written many books, been a freelance journalist and acted as a technical consultant for Channel 4 and the BBC. He has edited many magazines, including: Which Camera?, Which Lens?, The Video Post Handbook and Audio Post, and is the editor of Showreel magazine. Steve now concentrates on shooting and editing content for the Reel Show.

Denise Haskew began her career in 1989 as a founder member and director of a 3D stereoscopic imaging company. She worked as European marketing manager for special effects and animation software producers Alias in the mid-nineties and went on to run her own PR and marketing company specialising in post production and SFX. She is founder and publisher of Showreel magazine. Denise now shoots and directs content for the Reel Show.
