of Broadcast Engineers Technology Award

announced today that the openGear Terminal Equipment Platform
has won the prestigious Society of Broadcast Engineers (SBE)
Technology Award, for the 2006
Awards Program.
The SBE Technology Award recognizes the
SBE Individual or Sustaining Member who, in the previous year,
has provided the industry with the best new or innovative
technical item or idea to further the science of broadcast
engineering and to assist the broadcast engineer to be more
productive in the craft. The Award will be presented during
the SBE National Meeting taking place October 10 -11, 2007
in Monroeville (Pittsburgh), PA.

2RU modular frame, designed to accommodate up to 10 cards.
A wide variety of cards are available from terminal equipment
vendors supporting the openGear platform, allowing facilities
the freedom and flexibility to choose the best
technology for their particular applications. Customers are
no longer locked into one manufacturers frame standard
and modules for their terminal equipment solutions. openGear
also provides the platform with a control system that allows
quick and easy monitoring and control of
frames and modules on the network.
The openGear partners include: Ross Video,
Cobalt Digital, Ward-Beck, Claratech, B&M, Wohler, Telecast,
Chromatec, Practel, Algolith, BAL Broadcast, Norpak, Redbyte
Design, and Sonifex.
This is the fourth award for openGear. Additional
awards include: the NAB 2006 Award for Innovation in Media
(AIM), 2006 STAR Award for Superior Technology awarded by
TV Technology, and 2006 Gemini Award for Outstanding Technical
Achievement by the Academy of Canadian Cinema & Television.
The Society of Broadcast Engineers is a
non-profit organization serving the interests of broadcast
engineers. Its members work at broadcast stations, post production,
corporate, educational, government, military and other facilities.
SBE is widely recognized in the broadcast industry for its
certification, education and frequency coordination programs
and represents the broadcast engineering community on technical
issues with the FCC and other agencies.
