Mark Gray, president of SAMMA Systems, the established leader in media migration, has named Chris Golson as chief marketing officer. Gray made the announcement today from company headquarters in Manhattan, New York City where Golson is based. Golson’s responsibilities include direct supervision of the international sales, marketing and customer service teams.

Golson’s appointment coincides with the Company’s successful launch of SAMMA Solo, the world’s first real-time, complete analog videotape to digital migration solution. “SAMMA Solo has blurred our traditional market boundaries and opened up a multitude of areas for us,” said Gray. “We welcome Chris’s leadership during this time of extraordinary growth and development and we look forward to his foresight as we guide our customers through "the last mile to digital", whether it be with a large-scale SAMMA Robot, or our new compact SAMMA Solo.”

Prior to joining SAMMA Systems, Golson held the position of senior director, Market Segments, at SGI where he was responsible for the development and implementation of worldwide marketing programs including strategies for broadcast and production. In addition, he worked closely with partners and systems integrators to develop solutions to address the digital television and cinema marketplaces.

Golson also served as vice president of corporate marketing at Quantum Corporation where he repositioned the hard drive manufacturer as a data protection and network attached Storage Company. During his 16-year tenure with Sony Broadcast and Professional Company he achieved the position of vice president of marketing, and was instrumental in driving the company’s HDTV efforts including 24P and HD over IP, successfully launched the Digital Betacam and Betacam SX digital videotape formats, and oversaw product and development marketing for videotape recorders, editors, switchers, servers and monitors/projectors including the introduction of Trinitron monitors for broadcast.

Golson, an award winning digital photographer, holds a B.A. Cum Laude in history from Tufts University of Medford, Massachusetts.
