Mark Marchetti, director of broadcast
solutions for Streambox, Inc., will be presenting at the upcoming
GVExpo 2007 conference and exhibition in Washington, D.C.
As part of a series of streaming media case studies, Marchetti
will speak on the topic of "Streaming Media for Emergency
Response" on Nov. 15 starting at 11 a.m.
"Getting live video reports from the scene of disasters
as events unfold can be a logistical and technical challenge,"
said Marchetti. "Increasingly, relief organizations and
government agencies turn to mobile video transport technologies,
typically used for real-time news gathering, as a means to
getting timely video and audio reports back to decision-makers
for assessment."
Marchetti's presentation will focus on the innovative video
technologies that enable field workers from local/regional
government and relief organizations to get set up and start
transmitting high-quality video reports within minutes, even
when IP networks and phone lines have been knocked out.
System flexibility, reliability, and
ease of use are critical in these applications, especially
because the systems are likely to be operated by non-technical
staff. This video technology provides greater agility in gathering
disaster intelligence faster, more efficiently, and at a lower
cost.
