Sundance Digital,
Inc., the leading provider of broadcast automation solutions,
announced today that it recently commissioned a Titan
automation system for the United States Navy's Direct
to Sailor TV (DTS-TV), a satellite television service
based in Riverside, Calif.
The Titan
automation system enables the Navy to distribute multiple
channels of programming to some 260 Navy, Coast Guard and
Military Sealift Command ships on-duty around the globe. DTS-TV
operates under the umbrella of the Naval Media Center (NMC).
The NMC needed to replace a legacy automation
system and modernize its operation with newer transmission
technologies. For the switch-over, they temporarily installed
a small Titan package in order to stay on-air using the original
playback devices, while the larger primary Titan system was
brought on-line in a new control room nearby. With the installation
complete, the smaller Titan is now available for use during
system maintenance and future channel expansion.
"DTS-TV's state-of-the-art five channel
automation system helps the Navy bring a touch of home to
our sailors and marines serving worldwide, by providing a
mix of news, sports and entertainment programming," said
Steve Krant, Sundance Digital's vice president of Sales and
Marketing. Titan is a robust, highly scalable automation
system capable of controlling many hundreds of channels in
a facility, or remotely managing playlists at multiple, geographically
separated locations.
