Meeting the demand for
more high-definition (HD) content, in entertainment and sports,
veteran Columbus, Ohio-based production company Lyon Video
has once again turned to Thomson, the worldwide leader in
video solutions, for HD production equipment and systems to
support the different HD formats required by its clients.
Lyon Video recently completed installation on its third HD
mobile production truck, MU8.
Like the two other HD mobile trucks in its fleet, Lyon Video's
new MU8 truck features a full complement of Thomson Grass
Valley HD production equipment. This includes 15 LDK
8000 HD cameras capable of mixed transmission format operation
on fiber and triax cable; 11 LDK Super Expander large lens
adapters with 7-inch viewfinders; a Kalypso 4 M/E HD
production switcher (with six video/key channels of internal
DVE and eight internal still and clip sources); a Jupiter
router control system; C2IP camera control system; and, an
MCP 400 master control panel. Two HD triax camera repeaters
are stocked in Lyon Video's inventory.

Lyon Video will also launch an additional two HD mobile units
in late summer, MU5 and MU9. Both units will feature Thomson
Grass Valley LDK 8000 cameras, Kalypso HD 4 M/E HD production
switchers, Trinix HD video routers, and Concerto audio routers,
all under a Thomson Grass Valley Jupiter control system.

Lyon Video is the first mobile unit provider in the United
States with HD camera mixed-transmission format operation
from Thomson. The LDK 8000 cameras in MU8 have the ability
to operate on SMTPE fiber cable, single mode fiber cable,
or triax cable. The camera transmission choice is made by
simply plugging in a jumper cable to the optical system. In
single mode fiber operation, the camera may be up to 25,000
feet from the base station. Lyon Video has added more than
47,000 feet of single mode fiber cable to the company's inventory.
