Utah Scientific today
announced the availability of a new option for its flagship
router family, the UTAH-400, that enables direct connection
of the router's outputs to the Miranda Kaleido-X series of
multi-image display processors. The new interface takes advantage
of the MV-Link (Universal Multi-Viewer Link) that is available
as a Kaleido-X input option, replacing eight individual coax
cables with a single multi-core cable to reduce the cost and
complexity of connecting the outputs of the router to the
inputs of the display processor.
In addition, the Kaleido-X offers a direct Ethernet connection
to the Utah Scientific router's control system, allowing the
Kaleido to download router source labels for use in the multi-viewer's
under monitor displays (UMD) and giving the Kaleido-X the
ability to send commands to the router to set up proper source
assignments for a determined layout preset.
The Kaleido-X on-screen mouse operation also allows direct
source assignment from the router via drop-down menus. With
the ability to assign any source to any destination on the
monitor wall transparently from the operator point of view,
this comprehensive interface makes the combination of the
router and the multi-viewer processor the industry's most
flexible and expandable monitor wall solution.
"It is becoming very common these days for router outputs
to be used to feed multi-viewer inputs in large-scale monitoring
applications," said Scott Bosen, Utah Scientific's director
of marketing. "This new option for the UTAH-400 can greatly
simplify the installation of such a system while reducing
its cost and enhancing its operation. It is just another example
of how the UTAH-400's flexible modular architecture can be
used to build exactly the right system for any specific application."
The new option is available for immediate delivery. For more
information on how this option can be added to any new or
existing UTAH-400 router, please contact your Utah Scientific
representative.
