Video Technics,
Inc. (VT) today announced the official release at NAB 2008
of v4.5 of the Apella ingest, edit, master control,
and playout software suite.
The new release contains several significant enhancements.
The VT MOS Gateway has been significantly enhanced to provide
status feedback at all times, regardless of whether or not
a rundown is loaded in any VT Director client. This
allows producers working on an upcoming show that has not
yet aired to monitor the "requested" versus "ready"
package status. Now that MOS communication has been centralized,
multiple VT Director playout clients can monitor the same
rundown for real-time redundancy.
Video Technics has enhanced its true open architecture approach
to storage by allowing almost any type of storage device to
be incorporated as a VT Media Location. The SQL database engine
seamlessly tracks media assets throughout their entire life
cycle and across multiple media locations as a single logical
storage volume. Hierarchical Storage Management (HSM) allows
easy movement of content from one VT Media Location to another.
Assets can be moved on demand or scheduled to transfer at
any time.
All Apella products and clients software are fully compatible
with Microsoft® .NET 2.0 and Matrox® v5.0, and the
RS-422 VDCP interface is now configurable to support either
numeric-only or alphanumeric clip IDs for record and playout
by third-party automation systems.
A new VT Log Viewer application consolidates system logs for
easy filtering and troubleshooting. The v4.5 Apella software
release has been certified with VT's next-generation NAS solution,
which provides an aggregate bandwidth of over 1 GB/s, making
it suitable for high-definition workflow environments. Video
Technics will be demonstrating the full Apella v4.5 software
suite in NAB Booth SU9227 from April 14-17, 2008.
