The Volicon Observer-HD is the broadcast industry's first system to provide high-definition signal logging and monitoring capabilities, with support for Dolby surround; the ability to record and preserve the 5.1 and 7.1 surround channels; and storage for 30 days and longer. The Observer-HD accepts signals from HD-SDI interfaces with embedded audio, and is optimized for the 16:9 aspect ratio of the HD signal and supports both the 720p and 1080i display resolution standards. The system supports large numbers of simultaneous users, giving them 24/7 access to live and archived HD content from their desktops via a Web browser interface.

Broadcasters can record, store, search, retrieve, and view HD material in real time, from multiple broadcast sources and from any desktop within the broadcast facility. The system's export capability makes it easy to share assets internally or repurpose them for external distribution via the Web or other platform.
